From November 2 to 7, 2024, the 17th International Symposium on Biomedical Photonics and Imaging Technology (PIBM 2024) was held in Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City, Sanya, Hainan Province. The conference was hosted by the Hainan Society of Biomedical Engineering, hosted by the National Key Laboratory of Digital Medical Engineering, the School of Biomedical Engineering of Hainan University and other units, attracting nearly 500 experts, scholars, teachers and students from many countries and regions around the world to discuss the cutting-edge scientific issues and technological progress of biomedical photonics and imaging technology.

Some members of our laboratory actively participated in this event, and conducted in-depth academic exchanges with experts and scholars at home and abroad around the research directions of spectral CT imaging, X-ray absorption spectroscopy, and non-scan DR system. In the oral report and poster presentation of the conference, the members of the laboratory demonstrated the application results of the self-developed multi-spectrum X-ray imaging system in the identification of biological tissue components and the detection of dangerous goods, which was highly praised by the participating experts.

During the conference, the members of the laboratory also participated in a number of symposiums, and carried out extensive exchanges and cooperation with international counterparts on hot issues such as the application of artificial intelligence in medical imaging and the transformation of photonics technology in clinical diagnosis. Through this meeting, the members of the laboratory not only broadened their academic horizons and learned about the latest research progress in the field of biomedical photonics, but also laid a good foundation for subsequent scientific research cooperation and project application.

In the future, the laboratory will continue to devote itself to the research and development and application of high-end imaging equipment, actively participate in international academic exchanges, and continuously promote the development and innovation of biomedical photonics technology.
